Bowyers have preferences but I don’t think there is an objectively best wood. Personally I like pignut hickory most. I have tried Sassafras and thought it was pretty poor, but some old time bowyers say that Sassafras’s used to grow much larger and denser than it used to. My tool racks are made of Sasafrass bow staves.

Whats the best wood in your opinion? Ever try sassafras? Im long due to make a bow.
